August 28, 2011 – The Groundhog

So, last year I had a groundhog take up residence under the gazebo in my backyard.  Now this fellow is no little tyke.  To me, he looks like the Sumo wrestler of groundhogs.  How he manages to crawl underneath the steps on my gazebo I’ll never know.  But, he is cute.

But, over the winter months there’s been a change.  Now there’s a smaller groundhog living underneath my gazebo along with the Sumo wrestler!  This one is so-o-o cute, too.

I don’t have the heart to capture them and relocate them alongside a riverbank some place.  Not me!  I’ll just keep putting food out for them and I’m sure by next year, the Sumo wrestler’s entire family will be living underneath my gazebo.  He may invite a few relatives, too.
